About RMDS
Ring Mountain Day School is an independent, coeducational preschool and elementary/middle school for students three years through eighth grade. Ring Mountain Day School was founded as Children's Circle Center by Gudrun Hoy, M.A. in 1976.
Gudron Hoy is a leading educator who developed and implemented a unique curriculum for early childhood and elementary education. Her progressive educational philosophy emphasizes self esteem, creativity, global awareness and conflict resolution. Her vision was to educate the whole child by using high standards and stimulating each child to reach his or her fullest potential.
Today, Ring Mountain Day School’s curriculum is based on the progressive philosophy of John Dewey, a program that educates children by creating a safe learning community where students can take risks and be challenged according to their readiness and ability. This child centered approach not only nurtures a deeper sense of self worth, but also fosters a passion for learning that will last a lifetime.
