Giving

Our vibrant RMDS campuses at 70 Lomita and 445 Greenwood Cove are a testament to countless hours of work over the 32 years of RMDS’ history.  Our predecessors tirelessly worked to build a remarkably special community with their generous gifts of time, talent, and treasure.  Our challenge this year, as always, is to work together to assure a successful year for our student body, and also to end this school year as an even stronger institution for all future families.

Similar to many independent schools, RMDS’ tuition does not provide all the funds necessary to run our school:   our students benefit from the significant volunteering and generous contributions of our current parents, grandparents, and alumni.  Without the Annual Fund we would not able to offer Spanish classes, performing arts, visual arts, and physical education classes multiple times per week for all students in Kindergarten – 8th Grade.  Our primary vehicle of garnering support to pay the school's operating expenses is our Annual Fund.

In fact, we hope that RMDS Annual Fund is amongst your high philanthropic priorities during your time in our community.  Our school has a strong tradition of giving—our Annual Fund percent participation for current parents has averaged over 98% in the past three years which  speaks volumes of the commitment of our parents to our school. Not does every member give the Fund, but we also surpassed our dollar value goal of raising $175,000 for the 2007-08 Annual Fund.

The Annual Fund runs from the beginning of school through March. Each fall, the campaign starts with a letter from the school, followed by telephone call and email reminders from a volunteer. Volunteers are organized by class level, with parents in each class being solicited by their own Class Captain.  Volunteers are always needed, so please contact Suzanne Alpert if you'd like to help out.

Gifts can be made to the Annual Fund online.  Your may also print out the Annual Fund pledge card and return it to RMDS.  There are many other ways for community member to get involved in the Annual Fund in addition to making a gift.  Please contact Suzanne Alpert if you would like to be a Class Captain or take on any other leadership role in any of RMDS’ fund-raising initiatives.
