Advising

In Middle School, students are given a teacher/advisor with whom they meet twice per day.  An advisee group is a mixed-age group of about seven 5th through 8th grade students. The students meet in advisory at 8:30 to 8:45, checking in, organizing for their day; and again at 3:15-3:30 to be sure all homework assignments and books are ready to go home.  This is also a social or problem solving time, the teacher talking sometimes 1:1 or with the group.  In addition, the advisory group has lunch together every Wednesday and sometimes plans outings, such as going for ice-cream or hiking on horse hill.
